my concern about the multi-tab stuff really just lied in my experience with the pre-existing notification code for TTS system.. maybe that feature will become irrelevant if we can use OS-level notifications

to prevent desynchronization of stuff like that, we'd probably need to use web workers. web workers are definitely Not Popular though

made a little basic implementation without workers in https://github.com/TheV360/qcs-frontend-sbs2/tree/v360-notifications for now. it doesn't work well
