Build test suite (duplicate issue)

As discussed with Yasitha, issue regarding test suite issues was created in upstream repo from which this repo was forked: deekay2310#50. For some reason, it had been created there because the Issues tab had not been enabled on this repo yet (not the default behavior).

According to https://docs.github.com/en/issues/tracking-your-work-with-issues/transferring-an-issue-to-another-repository, there is a way to transfer an issue, but you need write permissions to both the source and destination repo. I don't have write permissions to the upstream repo so I can only create a new issue and link to it. Not ideal but for documentation purposes.

The test suite was initially an empty skeleton; we built from the ground up a new test framework using pytest up to 40-50+ percent coverage.
