I would like the option of editing text through either a WYSIWYG editor or through markdown.
It is okay to choose one editor or the other and to stay with that option.
It is also okay to move between the two options within one editor (for example if that functionality is already built into Slate)
I would like to format an essay as if it were for publication, with headings and subheadings, horizontal rules to mark section breaks, smaller font sizes for footnotes, etc.
I would also like to be able to format both poetry and prose, so the editor should let me differentiate between line breaks and paragraph breaks.
