Screen locking during Google Meet calls

Problem
During Google Meet sessions, unexpectedly the screen is locked and it cannot be unlocked again (the unlock mechanism is not properly triggered), but the sound input and output continue to function; very likely the same applies to the video-feed (I did not switch on the camera).
This seems to be the bug 40910377.
The only way out of this is a hard reboot.
