Good afternoon, I tried method A with DHU, I started Fermata and is works, I checked and it was on the AA phone also. After few seconds I disconnect the phone it disappears again from the app on Android Auto. |

I wanted to update my findings by going through my steps. Between the docs here, and the docs on the Google SDK site, I didn't feel like it was a clear enough tutorial for the users here and wanted to formalize something more thorougly documented.
Set Up PC1 - Install Android Studio through
flatpak install com.google.AndroidStudio Go through all the intial setup with the defaults. Close after this, we have a little bit of configuration to do. 2 - Set up the path inclusion for PATH="$PATH:<...>:$HOME/Android/Sdk/platform-tools"
3 - Run Android Studio and install DHU: I started by following the official documentation as linked in the thread, but the docs are a tiny bit stale and weren't straightforward enough. 3a - Open Android Studio
If the full studio opens (ie, to a project) just go to
3b - Install DHU: The docs show the wrong location for DHU - it's located in Connect to your DeviceAndroid Studio, and the path configuration, should allow us access to 1 - Enable Developer Options on your device. Look it up, but generally you tap the "Software Version" a bunch of times until it tells you you have enabled it. Some devices and OS' may do it a tiny bit different or it might be hidden, so do some google-fu if you can't figure it out. 2 - In Developer Options enable "USB Debugging", and optionally "Wireless Debugging" if you want to go... wireless! If using Wireless Debugging, enable it and click the left side of the menu item to view Pair/Connect information: # If never Paired before, on your device click "Pair device with pairing code".
# Use the IP/PORT/Code combination in place of below:
$ adb pair 192.168.1.10:42513 377728
# Next, on your device get the IP/Port from the Wireless Debugging menu:
$ adb connect 192.168.1.10:41435
connected to 192.168.1.10:41435
If USB Debugging, it should prompt you on the device. If it doesn't and defaults to file transfer, or to charging only, look at your notifications. You can enable debugging over USB by tapping it and choosing the option. 3 - Ensure you're connected and see your device listed: $ adb devices
List of devices attached
192.168.1.10:41435 device
Install & Prep Fermata Auto1 - Install KingInstaller. 2 - Using KingInstaller on the device, Install Fermata Auto
3 - Open Fermata Auto and make sure it works. You can set up folders and whatnot if you want, that's not really the point here though. 4 (optional) - I had to "Disable Permission Monitoring" in Developer Options to run the following # Allows app to capture the device's screen/audio
adb shell appops set me.aap.fermata.auto.dear.google.why PROJECT_MEDIA allow Otherwise I was getting the error:
Connect DHU to your Device
1 - Open Android Auto. Just like the Android Dev Options, YMMV as to where to find it. For me, it was 2 - Enable Android Auto Dev Options. Also like the standard Android Dev Options, we need to tap the "Version" menu item at the bottom a bunch until it's enabled.
2b - Enable "Unknown Sources" in the Android Auto Dev Options. This will allow the Fermata Media Service to be accessible on your Head Unit, as well as allow the "Auto Play Music on Connect" feature of Android Auto. 3 - Start the Head Unit Server. The 3 Dot Menu in the top right of Android Auto settings will have the option "Start head unit server". You'll see a toast message pop up saying it's starting, and the option should now read "Stop head unit server". 4 - If you're wanting to access your device through the Wireless debug bridge, we need to forward the Head Unit Server socket port to our local system for DHU to access as a local socket:
adb forward tcp:5277 tcp:5277 5 - Start DHU! # if wireless
~/Android/Sdk/extras/google/auto/desktop-head-unit --bridge
# if usb
~/Android/Sdk/extras/google/auto/desktop-head-unit -u 6 - Launch Fermata FS! This will launch the mirroring app and let you pick the available apps on the "Dashboard" 7 - Disconnect PC (close window if wireless). 8 - Connect to Car, and Fermata FS should launch! Known Issues:

Just a warning for Android 14 Root Users. Update to Android Auto 12.2. I initially thought that it was not working because I could never see Fermata Auto in the applications. The issue turned out to be that Google Play was only offering an update to version 12.1. After noticing this, I manually updated to version 12.2 by downloading the APK, and it is now functioning properly. Steps to follow:
That's all. Thank you very much for the previous information. |

Hi, I need the secondary phone method but connect the car via "Wireless Android Auto". I have and old Samsung S9 Plus phone for this purpose. I don't want to but a new data line but use my company phone's data line. As Wireless AA needs to connect through phone's Wi-Fi module I need to connect the company phone via Bluetooth. But Samsung S9 forces to turn wifi off to be able to connect Bluetooth internet sharing. This is not the case for my primary Android phone. Do any of you have an idea how this can be solved? |

Hi, I have an MG ZS car and a Google pixel 6 pro phone with Android 14 (build AP2A.240705.004) and Android Auto 12.2.642414-release. Even when enabling the developer mode in the AAWireless app, I found no-way to make "Fermata Auto" working correctly. Only the "Fermata Media Service" icon appears instead of four ones on the head-unit screen and if I open it, only a black screen appears and if I play a YouTube video, it just reproduces the audio. I further needed to enable the developer mode on Android Auto to make the app icon appear on the head-unit screen, just enabling developer mode on the AAWireless app wasn't enough. Is there anything I can do to fix the issue? |

Hello, huge fan of this application. Recently purchased an AAWireless adapter, and have been enjoying it up until a few days ago where the app disappeared. A little over a week ago I updated the Android Auto app to the latest (10.12 I believe), and then lost Fermato Auto from my list. I uninstalled all the updates and manually loaded an older version of the app and it came back. However, it appears that a server-side update was pushed to make Fermata Auto disappear again. I've tried to downgrade again and haven't had any luck. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there something I can do to fix it? |

Hello friends, I would like to explain how I run Fermata Mirror on Android 14. I have wireless Android Auto in my car. First of all, you download the Headunit Reloaded application to the phone. After opening the application, you click on self mode. You will see the Android Auto emulator. Then you click on Fermata FS. Then exit the application and install Android in the car. Connect to auto. When connecting, you first give permission from your phone and you will see fermata fs and fermata mirror. |

Módulo fermata te falta

What am I doing wrong or missed to do.
Xiaomi Mi9, Android11, Rooted, Magisk 25, LSposed1.9.2 module active,
Fermata1.9.9 taken from here (no KingInstaller used).
Android Auto 12.9 release currently.
LSposed shows "Fermata Auto - Android Auto hooks".
But, I don't get "Fermata Mirror" or "Fermata FS" apk "icons", "Fermata
Auto" only". And the same in AA launcher I can see only "Fermata Media
services" aplication possible to choose. In the car, if I run Fermata over
AA, there is no visible the "play" switch (the one with triangle". However,
if I run some Youtube music on the phone - an audio is transmitted to the
car through Fermata.
Should I install something more?

Which module do you mean exactly? There are YT movies showing it working properly under Andr14 even, and with all three sub aplications visible? Should I try with F1.8 so or some other module you mean? |

I also wanted to post my solution to Android 14 issues, I upgraded from Android 13 and I already had the latest version of Fermata Auto installed in Android 13. Never touched Fermata after upgrading to android 14, and it still works like a charm to this day lol, upgraded in like March of this year. So maybe just install Android 13, install Fermata Auto using Kinginstaller and just upgrade to Android 14, and never touch the Fermata app lol (Well as long as youtube doesn't break something again). |

Video content of YouTube breaks/freezes for a moment in every several seconds while an audio is very constant. Is it normal due to limited AAwireless band (5GHz anyway)? Or depends on some settings yet? Yes I know that my phone is already relatively old - but it's still quite good Snapdragon855 and 6G of RAM. So it seems to me the phone itself should be not the culprit here. (There is no higher Android than 11 for my phone). |

… Following the first path described above, I understand that if I install

Fermata in Android Auto too, correct? I have wireless connection in my car,
so when I get in the car, Android Auto launches immediately. After
downloading the Fermata player from Google Play, I saw the player but
Fermata Auto is missing. If I perform all operations described in method
one, should everything work?

For rooted devices with Magisk:
*#*#5776733#*#*
.For non-rooted devices:
Duplicating this post by @cosminmocan here:
Been following this thread and saw a few things that kept repeating, and I can only imagine how annoying it must be for people trying to help others and the dev himself, because of that , i will try to make a short summary of the 'possibilities' people have in order to have the video back, also , I will split them in 2 :
Main phone, probably with android 14, NOT ROOTED
Method A: Using DHU connect to your phone, and start fermata FS app, disconnect the phone and voilla , next time you use your phone, your phone will auto start fermata
BONUS: Use the following command to always allow screen projection to fermata:
adb shell appops set me.aap.fermata.auto.dear.google.why PROJECT_MEDIA allow
[Method B]: This works only if your vehicle supports wired android auto, as you will need to BUY a dongle created by another awesome android auto developer, the dongle is called AAWireless. The way this would work is that the dongle acts as a man-in-the-middle and present to the phone as DHU, with developer mode activated, and thaths why you will see all the apps that you usually see with the emulator
Secondary phone, can be older, can be extremely cheap if bought second hand with cracked screen.
Method: You will first need to root this phone, after rooting there are probably more variants of getting it up and running, I will present mine, which is likely outdated but works.
Bonus: Most cars support multiple phones connected, so you can still connect you main phone for calls, and if you stick a data sim your second phone, you would also be able to have waze running on it.
For me, the the secondary phone method was the only option, as bmw in their infinite wisdom only support wireless android auto, so i keep the phone in my car connected constantly(it only charges when the ignition is on) and everything works wonderful, this also allowed me to have some tasker profiles that send the location of the car every time the usb connection is interrupted via telegram 🗺️
I really hope the above would prevent the same questions from being answered over and over again, and I really hope people will not start making youtube videos again as those only attract bad attention
