Quick summary

On sites with multiple admins, Email address to send to will show the email address of the logged-in account, which is confusing as admins will be unable to to tell which address is actually set in the system.

Steps to reproduce

  1. From your main account (user 1), add a second site administrator (user 2)
  2. Create a page with a Contact Form block
    • check Email address to send to, it'll show user 1's email address
  3. From user 2's account, open the page
    • check Email address to send to, it'll show user 2's email address

A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.

Regardless of the admin user, Email address to send to should show the email that the message will be sent to.

What actually happened

Email address to send to will show the email address of the logged-in account, which is confusing as admins are unable to to tell which address is actually set in the system.

Afaik, it impacts everyone.

All

Available workarounds?

No but the platform is still usable, the message seems to go to the site owner, or maybe another site admin. So someone will get the message, but unsure how to tell which of the admin will get it.

I'm able to reproduce the issue.

Sending to an email that's not an admin works. But if you're logged in as "Admin 2", you can't override the setting, and the email gets sent to the site admin.

@Automattic/jetpack-vulcan Adding this one to your backlog. I think that would be a nice improvement. The field's default and placeholder values could be better handled so it's clearer for anyone editing the page where the emails will be sent when no custom email has been provided.

Turns out we have another issue for this, in #40108. Closing this one as duplicate.
