Is this also possible for ASP.NET Core?

This sample looks really great, but it left me wondering if this is also possible for ASP.NET Core and Entity Framework Core. Especially since the web.config changes would not be possible there.

It would be really great if a sample could be documented describing how the same goal could be achieved on ASP.NET Core
