I would like to execute SmartDiff from "History View" to compare two versions of a package which are managed in my favorized version control system. Especially GIT support would be nice.

@Liturgist Starting with release 2.3.2 (for Visual Studio 2017 and above), GitHub source control is now supported in Smart Diff. Have you tried this out?
I think this feature request on this page represents a request for a Smart Diff hook in a history view page. Currently you have to right click on the .dtsx or .cube or whatever file and use the Smart Diff menu there. But git is supported.
