Since HA 2023.11.* every integration can use its own server file storage folder which is backuped with the HA backup.
Perhaps we should automaticly create a json file of all heatpump params or or diag file dump every day in it.
We can create a list of all relevant config params ("whitelist" or a all sensors excluded by "blacklist"). Normal operation params like counter, operation modes, current target temps have to be excluded.
Or create a delta file with changed config params.
The restore method reads the relevant config params from a selected file and writes it as dump into the heatpump.
Perhaps firmware files can also stored automaticly in this folder to allow downgrades.

I didn't notice this request yet, but is sounds very useful.
The most important thing in my opinion would be to store the initial configuration with the default settings. This would allow users to go back to the original state if they accidentally changed something which had a negative effect on performance.
Monthly or maybe weekly snapshots could be the next step followed by delta changes.
