Recovering bitcoin wallet from seed phrase is failing #1303
Comments
Experiencing the same issue. No error is thrown, the device just silently resets in the middle of seed phrase recovery. I was finally able to enter a 24 word seed phrase on my ~15th try. |
Happening on a mac with bitbox firmware version 9.19.0 and app version 4.43.0 |
Thanks for the report. Could it be that you machine went idle/sleep during the process? If it does, it might interrupt the USB connection. This is the only case where we had similar issues in the past, and we'll try to find a way to mitigate this. If this is the cause, as a workaround you can move your mouse a bit every once in a while to prevent sleep. Please send the log file of the BitBoxApp to [email protected] so we can see some more details to investigate. https://shiftcrypto.support/help/en-us/15-other/101-support-files |
That was a phishing attempt (a new one). deleted and reported. |
@jbrauck-unchained @dylan-thompson could you verify if macOS going to sleep was the issue? Fyi, to fix this issue we made a PR to prevent macOS from going to sleep during such BitBox02 interactions: BitBoxSwiss/bitbox-wallet-app#2928. |
@jbrauck-unchained @dylan-thompson fyi, since BitBoxApp 4.45.0 (released last month), macOS does not go to sleep while the recovery words are being displayed on the BitBox02. Please give it a try. |
When trying to recover a wallet from seed phrase, somewhere between 10-20 words in, the bitbox throws an error and restarts. Haven't been able to recover using this device.
Will provide more details once I try it again. My colleague is running into the same issue on his bitbox, and I will also have him provide debug info.
