It is useful to set some descriptive metadata on a lease using either the "purpose" field or the "properties" field, but...

  • You can't set this when claiming an offer (the openstack esi offer claim command does not offer --purpose or --properties)
  • You can't set this as an admin using openstack esi lease update.

This substantially reduces the usefulness of these fields.
