what is the difference between a medical mask and a protective mask?

I think protective mask is a PPE.
Is medical mask such as oxygen mask a PPE?
A surgical mask is likely both a medical mask and protective mask. Hoewver, some mask like oxygen mask appears not to be used for protective purpose, but for medical purpose.
