Class Prep (1 hour)

Watch a video on critical thinking and coders. Link in prep. Write out your own definition of what critical thinking is, be ready to share in class.

Ideas for Class Exercises (1 hour)

  1. Critical thinking (class quiz to separate the difference between evidence-based and logical reasoning from speculation and gut feelings) - 40 min
  2. Customer/users: Chocolate bar game: 1 person is the PM, and the other 3 in the group are customers. PM thinks/designs the tastiest, most delicious chocolate bar. The chocolate bar is then presented to the customers, who all offer feedback and suggest modifications. Can you adjust the chocolate bar? 3 people to share what they could have done differently with involving customers/users. (40 min)

Ideas for Coursework (90 minutes)

  1. Organise regular study sessions with your group. Aim for one study session (where everyone attends and participates) every other module. Set up the invite, agenda, send prep material if applicable.
  2. Write a 250-word cover letter: What job do you want and why are you the right person for it? Share with your group. Read other members' text and make comments/suggest edits.
  3. Critical thinking about machine learning (1.5h)

I have asked @liz for some changes.
The class is too long and I am wondering if some of the concepts being asked have been explained to the trainees yet.

PR issues are happening. Have asked Sally and Mitch.

Hi @kfklein15 , I think that machine learning coursework is too advanced, because we have basically introduced critical thinking as a concept and not how to interrogate information to form arguments. But some coursework around machine learning and critical thinking is still a good idea.

What if we focus the question a bit more. See below doc, where I tweaked the coursework.

In line of what was discussed in today's PD meeting, we won't be moving tickets back to the left, so I have raised a bug of the above, and moving this back to Done.
