Replace the following lines from wp-config-sample.php

if (WP_ENVIRONMENT == 'Production') {
	define('WP_ROOT', '');
} elseif (WP_ENVIRONMENT == 'Development') {
	define('WP_ROOT', '/put_your_project_name_here/public');
}

Replace the above content by

define('WP_ROOT', '');

Making vhost should be a mandate.
