Today, in Naira village, one of our surveyors recorded a very high reading in the farthest tap.
For running water, free and total, chlorine reading was 8.8
Firstly surveyor did the testing with the LR meter and it showed 2.0 and then it showed an error so the surveyor switched to the HR meter and the reading came out to be 8.8. This didn't seem normal to me because the water turned pink and the surprising thing is that it only happened with running water at the farthest tap. Readings were pretty normal at the nearest tap and the farthest tap's stored water
I interrogated further to see if the farthest household expressed any concerns regarding it, surveyor told me that they just said they had problems with smell and nothing else and the farthest household where the reading came at 8.8 didn't look much concerned or expressed anything strongly. Also, please note that our surveyor reached at that time only when the Pump operator let the water out first thing in the morning for the village.
But the complaints were from houses near to the tank (a distance of 10-15 meters from the tank) about the taste of the water, causing sore throat, saltiness and asking us to do something about it.
This issue is with only HH in a specific saahi/street
