Adding more env vars cleaned up code a bit adding exception for old pyyaml

Fixing subshell process group process killing

• Fixing a bug with process group killing subshells properly

A few minor bugfixes

• initially run time needs to be 0 not huge
• max_runtime data format needs to be int
• adding more debug/logging information
