Each step of the calibration/optimization loop will involve:

Creating keyfiles to simulate some or all of the FIA stands by filling in placeholders for growth/mortality modifiers
Executing FVS simulations (in parallel)
Extracting outputs from the SQLite database for each simulation
Calculating scoring metrics for observed vs. predicted growth or mortality from each simulation
Cleaning out model outputs (e.g., SQLite database)
