How is the EdgePi related to IoT?

In the context of IoT, EdgePi can work as your edge device that connects all your "things" to the Internet. Here, "things" are the devices and sensors that usually do not support Internet connectivity by default. These devices usually do not support TCP/IP and only support serial connections to other devices or provide digital/analog outputs.

EdgePi has two RS-485 and two USB ports that can provide serial connections to other devices. Also there are 8 digital/analog inputs that can take in voltage inputs from other sensors and devices.

EdgePi can collect all the data from all connected sensors and devices and push them to the EdgePi Cloud automatically. Your data will be available for you to monitor, create alarms or run logic on in near real-time over the Internet.
