The script tries to open ~/.MultiMCMultiMC, this doesn't exist.

The issue is that in line 190 the location is set like this: MMCBIN=$MMCDIR"MultiMC", this should be MMCBIN=$MMCDIR"/MultiMC" to point to the file in the folder.
