The body temperature indicator is not updating.

The body temperature indicator is not updating. I live in a extreme hills biome and it is cold there and the outside temperature bar is moving from cold to warm as it should. As I keep an eye on the temperature it stays fixed between green and yellow indicating that I have a good body temperature. However I still got frostbite! I held a bucket of lava in my hotbar to get me warmer (bad pun) but then, without the body temp. indicator moving, I get heatstroke in the middle of a frozen wasteland! I am so confused and I will add useful info at the bottom.
