USB on mainboard is always on and resetpin always high #15

Thanks for your report. Correct, on some motherboards, the USB ports are always power. The power of the reset pin varies between motherboards. When the reset pin is always high, a recommendation is to find another pin such as a power LED. Is this available on your motherboard for power detection? |
Ditto but more complicated here. Reset pins always have 3.3V across them on my board. I took 5V power from a USB2 header and also the ground but it seems that my front panel connectors are not on the same ground as the USB. If I measure from USB ground to the positive power LED pin it shows about 2.5V even when off and as such the status shows as on all the time. It might be safe to pull enough current from an LED pin to power the ESP....but it might not and I didn't want to risk it. At the moment, I've tapped 3.3V from the ATX header to show power status and that works. As proof of concept, I've just used a male DuPont pin to shove in the top of the ATX connector. It may be better to take all the connections off the ATX header and do it properly...but maybe I'll wait until I get the system in a case and not just on a cardboard box before I worry about that! |
I don't know why, but on my mainboard the reset pin is always high when I power the USB, or have I done something wrong?
