STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
During implementation of APP-6(D)(1) there was confusion with the location and definition of some of
the amplifiers for line control measure symbols.
The template in Figure 8-6 attempts to show all the amplifiers for all line types. This leads to
confusion as Phase Lines do not require amplifiers T1, T2, W or W1. Conversely, fire control support
measures such as Restricted Fire Lines and Coordinated Fire Line do not require the N or T fields
and also do not require the PL identifier on the lines.
There is also inconsistency in table 8-15 where the location and identification of the controlling
headquarters changes. Examples of the inconsistency can be shown in Fire Support Coordination
Measures, SIDCs 260100, 260200 and 260300, where field T is used in
PROPOSED SOLUTION:
The proposed solution includes replacing Figure 8-6 to include example templates of both phase line and Fire support control measure line types.
The templates for the fire support control measures also need to be aligned to provide consistency and align with the template shown in Figure 8-6.
SCP 18-XXX-UK Boundary Amplifier Clarification provides the definitions for Amplifier T1.
See Annex A to this SCP for incorporation instructions.
