There are two types of "Info" icons, is such difference necessary?

I opened a bug report on Bugzilla about the numerous «circled i» icons in Firefox’s source code and interface.

From what I understand:

  • «Identity icon» is used in the address bar (I guess it was used for http pages before, now it’s only used for some internal URLs like chrome://, or file:///) and in the tracking protection popup
  • I can’t find «Identity Icon Hover», «Identity Icon Notice» or «Identity Icon Notice Hover» in Firefox source code so I’m not sure it’s still used.
  • «Info» is used in the debugger, maybe Firefox should unify it with identity icon?
  • «Information» is used in in about:preferences#home
  • A icon identical visually to Information is used in new profile/downgrade profile dialogs, i.e. chrome://browser/content/newInstall.xhtml and chrome://mozapps/content/profile/profileDowngrade.xhtml
