Omitting special characters on the main layout

Hi,how can I omit for example ß,ö,ä,ü to get more space for the other characters?

First, add a layout by clicking on your language in the "Languages & Layouts" settings.
Then click on the newly added layout to modify it.

Can you give an example how to do it?

The long press menu of "a" has 10 symbols in it but I only want 3 symbols: *, @ and ä. I opened both the simple and JSON layouts but I don't see the 10 symbols next to the letter "a".

In the simple layout, just write a * @ ä.
Then in the "Select pop-up key order" and "Select hint source" settings, select only "Layout".
