Dictionaries (Personal vs User)

Swiss Samsung user here. I am typing in 3 languages: English, German (without ß) and Schwiizertütsch (Swiss German, dialect basically). There is of course no dictionary that covers the latter, so I would need to train the keyboard. My setup looks like this:

In the Text correction settings, I find two types of dictionaries:

• Personal dictionary brings me to Samsung's settings. This is probably supposed to be filled by hand
• Add words to user dictionary on the bottom of the settings screen. Checked in my case.

I actually thought adding would be

• type the word
• type a space, then backspace. The word will appear in the suggestions
• tap on the word to add it

Delete would be long press, that seems to work. Adding somehow doesn't.

Now, how do I

• add/remove words to my user dictionary?
• see what's in there?

Personal dictionary vs user dictionary is used inconsistently. I guess it would be best to rename Add words to user dictionary to use personal.

Words are only added to user dictionary if they already are in typed history. This is a safeguard against adding every typo to the dictionary.
Further (since you use two languages), there needs to be a clearly preferred language, so it's clear to which language the words should be added.
Current language is determined by detected language of the previously typed words. This will further slow down learning, but reduce chance that words get added to the wrong language.

Now, how do I

• add/remove words to my user dictionary?
• see what's in there?

I hope how to add clear from above.
You can go to Personal dictionary, which should show the added words (at least it does for me on LineageOS), and allow you to add and remove words.

Btw you can check whether https://www.wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de/de/download/Swiss%20German is the right variation. Creating dictionaries from the available sentence files is rather simple (though the dictionary might have some issues due to lack of a spell checker).

Regarding the dictionary: it's a pretty weird collection, from what I see. It probably doesn't make sense.

I turned off multilingual typing and did what you said:

Das isch en Tescht
Das isch nomal en Tescht
Und grad nomal en Tescht

Nothing got added to the personal dictionary.

Not sure what is going wrong, but looks like some relatively recent change broke addition to personal dictionary

Should be working in the next version.
Adding words to personal dictionary was completely broken when not using multilingual typing, so "Could you try disabling multilingual typing for now" was advice that made it go from slow learning to not working at all.
