In the English version of DTPR, there is a purpose of Connectivity, defined as: "Enables connectivity of devices to a digital network."

There is no Purpose explicitly about connecting to the Internet, which is a common purpose. Angers was concerned that "connection to a digital network" was unclear to residents, whereas "access to the internet" is commonly understood. There was also concern that the icon for Connectivity is identified as Wifi on Apple devices (and thus elsewhere). This icon makes it seem the technology is explicitly Wifi, thus internet.

So the questions are:

  • Should there be a purpose that is explicitly about connecting to the internet?
  • Or, can this Connectivity purpose be made more precise by saying Internet Connectivity, for example?
