Hello,

WinHue periodically crashes while idle in the background (no commands sent to it, no other apps changing my light)

Attached is the crash log:
WinHue crash 2020-05-12.txt
WinHue old crashes.txt
WinHue3.log.zip

As a side note, is there an option to have WinHue crash quietly since it takes focus from fullscreen games, etc.

Cheers :)

I will see what I can do about this.

WinHue 3.0.4839.0 Setup.zip
Can you try this version and let me know what happens. I let my WinHue open for the best part of the afternoon yesterday and I never had a crash. This version is a little more ahead so it might be more stable and have bugs already fixed.

Thank you for the update. I'll let you know if it crashes again but it could take a few weeks since the crashes were infrequent (about 1-3 times per month).

No problem I'll leave the issue open. I had WinHue open best par of today without any crash. Next time you have this issue try to notice what you are doing and if something happens on your network or something like that. You could try to find a pattern. Those issue are rather hard to pinpoint more if you tell me they happen infrequently 1 -3 times a month. Plus the exceptions are really vague. They rarely help. C# is notorious for using exception whenever there is something breaking in the program and that makes the app crash.

I just though of something... if you leave WinHue open in the background it's important to know that the hotkeys might still work even if it's not in focus so if you play a game or do something in another program they might trigger anyway. This might cause this issue. Just a guess.
