I understand this error happens when attempting to call GETVARIABLE, however this seems to be a feature of DB2 v12+ and we are on DB2 v11. Is being on a release of DB2 v12+ a requirement, or is there a way for this extension to work with DB2 v11?

We need to clarify that this tool only supports DB2 for z/OS. Could you confirm that your connection is DB2 for z/OS?

hi

i am getting the same error trying to connect to "DB2 Community Edition" installed on pc thru the VS "DB2 for z/OS Developer Extension".
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

i suspect the z/os developer extension is for connecting to mainframe db2 only.
can anyone confirm please ?

"Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1/Sample: Unable to set DB2 version information: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-440, SQLSTATE=42884, SQLERRMC=GETVARIABLE;FUNCTION, DRIVER=4.32.28"

Product name: "DB2 Community Edition"

Product identifier: "db2dec"
Version information: "12.1"
Max amount of memory (GB): "8"
Max number of cores: "4"

IBM DB2 Performance Management Offering: "Not licensed"

btw... i can connect to my pc Community Edition database using the "DB2 Connect" extension but it doesnot have a SQL "tuning" service which is why i am trying the z/OS Developer extension .
