With the current values in Tabel A.1 "Amputated or Bandaged codes", no distinction between "Bandaged" and "Amputated" can be made. Both are "UP". Also a more detailed explanation what partial print exactly means (how much image information from which finger limb) is meant here before it got a complete amputation.

Examples:

  • Bandaged (temporary state, might change in the next application)
  • Amputated (a state which might be different in a former application, but unchangeable from now on)
  • Amputation from birth on
  • ...

we have to pay attention to the definition of the values. as far as I know, we have:

  • available
  • unprintable (UP, = there is no print of a friction ridge skin, whatever reason)
  • amputated (XX, = there is a part of a friction ridge skin present, encoding possible, the correct wording would be rather: mutilated)
  • scar (funny)
in CHE, we got rid of XX because there was only confusion and no benefit from a system point of view (XX = amputated, and amputated in CHE means normally: completely missing, so we called it 'mutilated' (verstümmelt)).
