Error installing palaver on Ubuntu i386 16.04

Hi,

I followed the steps to install palaver on Ubuntu i386 16.04 however I am getting the following error.

Additionally I found post by user which recommended installing python-notifier however it did not help.

Currently the situation is this.

If I press the shortcut key I first see a green mic icon (Listening)
When I speak and press the shortcut key I see a spinning wheel which says performing recognition. This goes on till I press the shortcut key again where I receive a message 'speech unable to be transcribed'

Please I need to set this up my on Ubuntu. I have tons of documentation to do and rather than type I would like to dictate by using 'dictation mode'
