Hey everyone! I think it is very important to acknowledge the team behind AGiXT because it isn't a one man show. We are a small team of software engineers that have been building this together. I wanted to introduce everyone to our team. I'll start with myself.
I (Josh-XT) am the creator of the AGiXT back end. Most of my life has been a strong focus on automation. Taking anything that can be done twice and automating it has been my strongest suit for most of my career. Automating tasks involves understanding the problem, breaking it down into however many steps necessary, and building out code to handle those steps. I find patterns to build automation when doing any task so that I don't have to repeat myself, now with many years of experience with the pattern for building automation, I have built AGiXT to follow these patterns. I started writing code as a kid at ~9-10 years old after I learned how to build my own computers. This was back before Google or YouTube existed, so I had to learn from giant text books, starting with Visual Basic 5, moving into C, C++, and then many many more over the years.
I have 4 children, 2 boys and twin girls. I consider what I do to be taking the biggest steps towards giving them the best possible future. I have built educational tools that have AGiXT built in just for my children. Their AGiXT agent curates what content they're allowed to see based on rules that I set. I have a great understanding of what quality training data is capable of for machines, and I believe that high quality content that teaches and inspires curiosity is the right training data for humans. I want to secure this kind of future of education for all children in the future.
There is a section about me on my GitHub page if anyone wants to know more about me. Also, feel free to ask!
While I have spent a great deal of my focus on the AGiXT back end, I also helped build the NextJS front end called AGiXT Interactive alongside our two great front end developers, James and Wais.
James is the co-founder of AGiXT with me. We met because we shared a similar interest in cars (specifically the Mitsubishi 3000GT.)
"Interest"
might be an understatement considering we have both done engine swaps and many other things to those cars with our own hands several times over. James quickly gained a reputation for repairing old broken electronics from the cars that could no longer be purchased. His deep knowledge of electronics and willingness to build saved many cars in that community. While interacting with people in the car community, we started chatting one day about what each of us does, and found that each of us was holding the puzzle pieces the other was missing. James brings expertise to our team in electronics, database architecture, full stack software development, 3D modeling and printing, and much more that I'm not thinking of or remains to be seen. James took up the very difficult task of building a front end for what was essentially a dynamic automation machine and helped design the database. James also runs the full stack software development program at a major university as well as teaching there and has been for several years leading up to the start of the project. We started building together over 3 years ago on a bunch of projects and we are co-founders for multiple companies that we intend to launch B2B and B2C software products with. We're excited to be able to share more about those products very soon as we ramp up to official releases of them.Early last year, James introduced me to one of his friends and former students Wais. Wais started out trying to clean up a mess we made when we wanted to make a React Native mobile app with no mobile app development experience. We realized that mobile development was not going to be a small challenge and that we needed help. Shortly after he started going through the code and fixing our mistakes, we started discussing as a team if React Native was even the right direction, and pivoted back to NextJS to build our web application with his experience in modern front end development. Since then, our NextJS front end has evolved into a beautiful, fast, reliable, and functional user interface thanks to his direction and hard work.
Bird is one of the earliest contributors to AGiXT. He officially joined our team late 2024, but has been contributing to the open source project since early 2023. While I was working hard to crank out code to put my thoughts on paper as fast as possible, Bird was right behind me checking my work at all hours of the night and day, testing things to make sure my logic checks out (he was busy, my logic often did not check out for awhile there lol), and helping me to find and correct my mistakes. Bird has also built and updated extensions for AGiXT as well as helping to build automated tests for our front end and working with the team on updating the front end. Bird also has experience with Arduino, 3D modeling and printing, and enjoys learning and working in many different programming languages and frameworks. His flexibility has been invaluable! Bird also teaches software development.
A common theme between our team is that we all find patterns in order to optimize learning. James and Bird use these to teach people how to write code, I've always used it to learn the fastest ways to automate complex tasks, and our entire team uses this to teach AGiXT how to do things.
I don't want to leave out our open source contributors that are not a part of the official team, every moment spent trying it out is a contribution to our team that we appreciate. We have been fortunate to have a mildly active discord server of people trying it out and building with it that has led up to where it is today.
There is rarely a day that goes by without an update to AGiXT, this has been the case for the past 2 years and can be easily confirmed on our Discord and GitHub history. We have an amazing team and I'm happy to introduce them to everyone.
