Feature request: backspace word, delete word

I usually use Ctrl+Bs to delete a word, but when I try to do that in YouTube’s search bar, the list of keyboard shortcuts pops up because I pressed Ctrl. Can there be a single key that does Ctrl+Bs before YouTube can do that and take away textarea focus?
