/u/rishsriv: I did not quite get how a closest packing algorithm would help account for larger countries :-) If at all possible, could you provide a description or screenshot of what an ideal output would be like?

/u/Gsquzared: Maybe I'm describing it wrong, and maybe it would change the scaling of the map too much. But I'm envisioning the left side of the map with the countries packed edge to edge like they are on the right side. So there wouldn't be hexagons spread out in white space on the left side where the countries are larger.

/u/rishsriv: Got what you meant. Will try to add an option to cluster together countries that border each other other, such that whitespace between them is minimized. Thanks very much for the feedback!"
