The reason clearly is: they kept the page open, came back to the browser the next day, page got reloaded and they accepted the re-submitting of data because to this day there's no consistency what happens with these.
When posting comments, this doesn't happen thankfully. You can CTRL+R or F5 without the modal showing up or content getting re-posted. Editing your profile and editing sound metadata (and then going back in the browser) also doesn't have this behavior.
