What

Concept testing is when you show designs/ideas to your target useres and ask for their thoughts and feedback.

Why

Concept testing is a valuable, lightweight tool to determine things like the product-market fit or general interest.

When

Ideally done in the early stages of design iterations to narrow down many ideas or gauge interest. It should not replace full usability testing, as users typically will not interact with the concepts they are being shown.

How

General research study steps
At the highest level:

  1. Identify test objectives
  2. Write questions
  3. Recruit participants
  4. Conduct test
  5. Analyze results and determine next steps
