Hey @MartinDrab, thanks for sharing this with the world. It's an invaluable tool for recording what communication the Windows drivers sent to the hardware on the Microsoft Surface series devices.
While working on reading the fan speed from linux in this issue, it took me quite a bit to figure out how to setup recording of the boot procedure using IRPMon.
To help others out, I added two sections to the wiki:
In monitoring drivers and devices I added a note about boot logging pointing to use the commandline to be able to write the settings.
In the commandline interface I added an example on how to set up logging during the boot.
Not sure if it is possible to do any wiki edits with review, so I thought I'd make an issue to give you the opportunity to review these additions. Feel free to just close this issue if the edits seem reasonable.

Thank you very much for your contribution. I will try to check it out soon. ANd I will try to release new version of IRPMon shortly (at least with an unsigned driver if I won't be able to get the signature). The new version should enable you to log boot even from GUI (and collect the log after the boot as well).
