So, would this theoretical weapon destroy blocks when it hits them or when it is travelling? |
I think the main thing needed here is simply a tweak of the existing railgun, which is entirely separate from any combat system and based simply on setting off standard explosions at sequential intervals along the line you're aiming at. I'm not sure if individual explosions that fail to hit anything still occur, or get cancelled. Eventually some blocks get hit and after a certain count have been disturbed the "tunnel action" ends. In the old days it kept going until the edge of the loaded map. So it doesn't actually destroy blocks directly, the explosions do. What we likely need for this issue:
I don't think integration with combat proper is really needed. Railgun/crossbow can be its own thing for a while yet :-) |

This is a milestone to have an object in place based on the railgun in Terasology that allows for the destruction of environmental objects and NPCs.
The goal is to create a smaller scale, shorter, ranged version of railgun so that players can destroy towers and NPCs.
