It would be helpful if variable and data types could be assigned as you type in the requirements. We are finding that when filling in the variable mapping, you need to go back to the requirements where the variable was mentioned to accurately assign types. If this was a feature when creating the requirement, you'd likely have better context to assign correctly than coming back to it at a later date.

In fact, we have designed FRET so that the user does not have to think about variable types when writing requirements in the editor. This was an intended separation of concerns to simplify the requirement specification process.
However, I do see your point about having to go back to the requirements since the user might not remember details about the use of certain variables when doing the variable mapping.
We will discuss internally with the team about how to accommodate an easier variable mapping.
