Maybe we could have the discussion on cross validation here? We are working on this issue with @Sanisha003 and it might be helpful for the future to have the discussion on the corresponding issue?

Please find my implementation of spatiotemporal cross-validation splits that are compatible with rsample and tidymodels in the upcoming main's R/pipeline_base_functions.R generate_cv_index. An illustration is provided in my comment at #325 .
