Description

The IASI-NG instrument will be launched soon and the GSI will soon be updated in preparation for this new dataset (NOAA-EMC/GSI#805). The global workflow should be updated to allow this new dataset to be ingested in and to update to the new GSI hash.

Target version

GFSv16.4.x and GFSv17

Expected workflow changes

Updates to the config.anal and three analysis scripts. Additionally, newer CRTM fix files will need to be linked in.

Tasks

  • Create release branch
  • Make workflow changes for upgrade in release branch (add additional checklist items as needed)
  • Create release notes
  • Cut hand-off tag for CDF
  • Submit CDF to NCO
  • Implementation into operations complete
  • Merge release branch into operational branch
  • Cut version tag from operational branch
  • Release new version tag
  • Announce to users
  • Update Read-The-Docs operations status version in develop

@wx20jjung Will these updates be part of the upcoming GFSv16.4 DA update in ops or a subsequent update in ops to v16.4.+?

@KateFriedman-NOAA The decision for which update these changes go into should be made by @ADCollard.
