Which version of IP

According to the README.md the following package is needed:

NCEPLIBS-ip 4.1.0+ (required for interpolation)

But the latest version is only 4.0.0. Maybe this is a typo. Just pointing it out.

v4.1.0 will be the next version. It should be released in the next week or so. v4.1.0 will introduce the ability to build with shared object library support.

OK. Are the instructions for the NCEPLIBS-xx correct?
I can install g2c and sp but the instructions for ip is confusing. Does it require ip2, which is old?

Here is what I used to install ip

# Assume inside ip source package
mkdir build && cd build
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/path/to/install -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=/path/to/sp/install -DOPENMP=ON -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON ..
make -j 4
make test
make install

For me, I generally install sp and ip in the same location. This will give you only the shared libs with OpenMP support. If you need static libs too, then rerun cmake with -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=OFF

ip does not require ip2. ip2 is abandoned and all of its features now live in ip.

grib2io v2.0.0 beta 2 has been released. It is live on PyPI. If you have installed g2c, sp, and ip into common system areas, you should be able to perform pip install grib2io==2.0.0b2
