I'm really struggling on this. I've gotten to where I need creative the octoprint.service file. I created that but am unable to create it or move it to the etc/systemd/system location. When I view the properties for the system folder it shows the owner as root and I have no options to do anything. In the terminal I verified that I am the only user listed. If I try adduser it tell me only root may add a user or group to the system. |

I created the service file by using Otherwise, you should be able to create the file somewhere else, and use |

Appreciate the guide, it's been helpful so far (along with fighting a learning curve for Ubuntu). I am at the section where you grant access to the USB and trying to execute the sudo chmod a+rw /dev/ttyUSB0 command and it tells me that there is no such file or directory. Where do I go from here? |

@nozborne For that command to work, you need to have your printer turned on and connected to your computer. Once it's connected, it should show up. |

Setting up Octoprint without a Raspberry Pi :: Nathan Vaughn — Adventures in programming and tech
Background # I recently got a Creality Ender 3 for myself. However, at work I’m spoiled by an Ultimaker that integrates beautifully with Cura and has remote monitoring. I wanted the same for my printer at home, so I set myself up an OctoPrint server.
OctoPrint has a ton of resources on their website, but I think they don’t really do a great job of explaining how to install it without the pre-made Raspberry Pi image.
