Describe the bug
Since updating to Ubuntu 20.04 I'm unable to use Shadow and I figured you guys might have some insight in why it's not working anymore and possibly, how to fix it.

Launched as is, both the official and beta clients all end up throwing an L-104 error : stream fails to launch.

I tried some tips outlined in this repo : I installed non-free Intel drivers and tried to launche the AppImages as follows :

env LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=iHD ~/Downloads/Shadow.AppImage --no-sandbox
env LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=iHD ~/Downloads/ShadowBeta.AppImage --no-sandbox

For both clients, Streaming starts, showing a black screen for 1/10th of a second then crashes and the client then shows error L-100.
In /var/log/syslog I can see that there is a crash :
May 14 09:36:48 localhost kernel: [19212.532035] VideoRendering[166051]: segfault at 0 ip 0000000000000000 sp 00007f5b13ffdd08 error 14 in Shadow[556a73566000+bcc000]

System

  • OS: Ubuntu
  • OS Version: 20.04.2 LTS
  • Environment: Gnome Shell
  • Application: Shadow.AppImage, ShadowBeta.AppImage
  • Application Version: 5.0.954 for Shadow.AppImage, 5.0.955 for ShadowBeta.AppImage
