  • Package name: binwalk
  • Latest released version: 2.4.1
  • Current version on the unstable channel: 2.3.4
  • Current version on the stable/release channel: 2.3.4

The current binwalk upstream ceased to maintain the project after being acquired by Microsoft (ReFirmLabs/binwalk#671), but there is a fork (https://github.com/OSPG/binwalk) continues the work, and one of the improvements of the fork is that the usage of nose is removed which made upgrading to newer Python possible.

Both Arch and Gentoo have made the switch.

Prior work: #311156
