v0.5 Release Schedule & v0.6 Discussion

v0.5 has had plenty of progress, most of which I am very satisfied with.

As such, I would like to propose releasing v0.5, and shifting our focus to v0.6 where we focus on:

1. general structure improvements
2. making the module system more intuitive
3. documentation and extensibility

Blocking Issues

• treewide: cleanup #178 general cleanup for Nix & introduction of warnings & assertions
• modules/visuals: update indent-blankline to v3 #154 update indent-blankline.nvim to v3

v0.6 Goals

• Make existing structure more intuitive, this should be a positive change for contributors and existing maintainers alike.
  • A cleanup for the existing extended stdlib.
  • A cleanup of the confusing call chains around the module system.
  • Possible NixOS module
  • Proper documentation of the available library functions
• extraConfig to pass into builtin plugin's setup() #133
• Customization for the Neovim builder (adding extra lua packages, files and so on to the wrapper)
• Cleaning of the languages module, as previously referenced here

Non-goals (but still nice to work on)

• sqls is deprecated, use sqlls instead #126 - the packaging for sqlls is near impossible, but a workaround may be found
• null-ls cannot be used with ccls due to offset_encoding #85 - finalize the status of this issue as permanently fixed, or document breakage/workarounds

Release Schedule

19/11/2023 - start of feature freeze
20/11/2023 - branch out from master
30/11/2023 - deadline from merging 0.5 branch into master
1/12/2023 - start working on v0.6
