@NothingOSS would really like a reply here. |
We are working on it and will update you soon. |
@NothingOSS Shouldn't be something you have to work on... Just publish. |
It appears that the touchscreen code is also missing some bits. In Nothing OS 2.0.3, vendor_dlkm contains /lib/modules/goodix_core.ko, which is licensed as GPL v2. The symbol Please review @NothingOSS. |
A few commits were added recently, and one of them (c553bb6) seems to address this issue. I'm new to tinkering with kernels, so I can't say if it resolves the issue, but I wanted to mention it, since it has gone unremarked. |
Dear @NothingOSS, I commend the effort to address everything mentioned here. All module's source code has been released, most notably the camera module which was Thanks for that, but I have to mention I'm still frowning upon the state of unsynced source releases with OTA. Please see #3. |
commit 5a22fbcc10f3f7d94c5d88afbbffa240a3677057 upstream. When LAN9303 is MDIO-connected two callchains exist into mdio->bus->write(): 1. switch ports 1&2 ("physical" PHYs): virtual (switch-internal) MDIO bus (lan9303_switch_ops->phy_{read|write})-> lan9303_mdio_phy_{read|write} -> mdiobus_{read|write}_nested 2. LAN9303 virtual PHY: virtual MDIO bus (lan9303_phy_{read|write}) -> lan9303_virt_phy_reg_{read|write} -> regmap -> lan9303_mdio_{read|write} If the latter functions just take mutex_lock(&sw_dev->device->bus->mdio_lock) it triggers a LOCKDEP false-positive splat. It's false-positive because the first mdio_lock in the second callchain above belongs to virtual MDIO bus, the second mdio_lock belongs to physical MDIO bus. Consequent annotation in lan9303_mdio_{read|write} as nested lock (similar to lan9303_mdio_phy_{read|write}, it's the same physical MDIO bus) prevents the following splat: WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 5.15.71 NothingOSS#1 Not tainted ------------------------------------------------------ kworker/u4:3/609 is trying to acquire lock: ffff000011531c68 (lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: regmap_lock_mutex but task is already holding lock: ffff0000114c44d8 (&bus->mdio_lock){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: mdiobus_read which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> NothingOSS#1 (&bus->mdio_lock){+.+.}-{3:3}: lock_acquire __mutex_lock mutex_lock_nested lan9303_mdio_read _regmap_read regmap_read lan9303_probe lan9303_mdio_probe mdio_probe really_probe __driver_probe_device driver_probe_device __device_attach_driver bus_for_each_drv __device_attach device_initial_probe bus_probe_device deferred_probe_work_func process_one_work worker_thread kthread ret_from_fork -> #0 (lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock){+.+.}-{3:3}: __lock_acquire lock_acquire.part.0 lock_acquire __mutex_lock mutex_lock_nested regmap_lock_mutex regmap_read lan9303_phy_read dsa_slave_phy_read __mdiobus_read mdiobus_read get_phy_device mdiobus_scan __mdiobus_register dsa_register_switch lan9303_probe lan9303_mdio_probe mdio_probe really_probe __driver_probe_device driver_probe_device __device_attach_driver bus_for_each_drv __device_attach device_initial_probe bus_probe_device deferred_probe_work_func process_one_work worker_thread kthread ret_from_fork other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock(&bus->mdio_lock); lock(lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock); lock(&bus->mdio_lock); lock(lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock); *** DEADLOCK *** 5 locks held by kworker/u4:3/609: #0: ffff000002842938 ((wq_completion)events_unbound){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work NothingOSS#1: ffff80000bacbd60 (deferred_probe_work){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work NothingOSS#2: ffff000007645178 (&dev->mutex){....}-{3:3}, at: __device_attach NothingOSS#3: ffff8000096e6e78 (dsa2_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: dsa_register_switch NothingOSS#4: ffff0000114c44d8 (&bus->mdio_lock){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: mdiobus_read stack backtrace: CPU: 1 PID: 609 Comm: kworker/u4:3 Not tainted 5.15.71 NothingOSS#1 Workqueue: events_unbound deferred_probe_work_func Call trace: dump_backtrace show_stack dump_stack_lvl dump_stack print_circular_bug check_noncircular __lock_acquire lock_acquire.part.0 lock_acquire __mutex_lock mutex_lock_nested regmap_lock_mutex regmap_read lan9303_phy_read dsa_slave_phy_read __mdiobus_read mdiobus_read get_phy_device mdiobus_scan __mdiobus_register dsa_register_switch lan9303_probe lan9303_mdio_probe ... [ Upstream commit 15319a4e8ee4b098118591c6ccbd17237f841613 ] As &card->tx_queue_lock is acquired under softirq context along the following call chain from solos_bh(), other acquisition of the same lock inside process context should disable at least bh to avoid double lock. <deadlock NothingOSS#2> pclose() --> spin_lock(&card->tx_queue_lock) <interrupt> --> solos_bh() --> fpga_tx() --> spin_lock(&card->tx_queue_lock) This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock. To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch uses spin_lock_bh() on &card->tx_queue_lock under process context code consistently to prevent the possible deadlock scenario. commit b684c09f09e7a6af3794d4233ef785819e72db79 upstream. ppc_save_regs() skips one stack frame while saving the CPU register states. Instead of saving current R1, it pulls the previous stack frame pointer. When vmcores caused by direct panic call (such as `echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger`), are debugged with gdb, gdb fails to show the backtrace correctly. On further analysis, it was found that it was because of mismatch between r1 and NIP. GDB uses NIP to get current function symbol and uses corresponding debug info of that function to unwind previous frames, but due to the mismatching r1 and NIP, the unwinding does not work, and it fails to unwind to the 2nd frame and hence does not show the backtrace. GDB backtrace with vmcore of kernel without this patch: --------- (gdb) bt #0 0xc0000000002a53e8 in crash_setup_regs (oldregs=<optimized out>, newregs=0xc000000004f8f8d8) at ./arch/powerpc/include/asm/kexec.h:69 NothingOSS#1 __crash_kexec (regs=<optimized out>) at kernel/kexec_core.c:974 NothingOSS#2 0x0000000000000063 in ?? () NothingOSS#3 0xc000000003579320 in ?? () --------- Further analysis revealed that the mismatch occurred because "ppc_save_regs" was saving the previous stack's SP instead of the current r1. This patch fixes this by storing current r1 in the saved pt_regs. The check for the presence of an element with a given key in this function is: val = READ_ONCE(entry->val); if (val && keys_match(key, val->key, map->key_size)) ... The write of a new entry is: elt = get_free_elt(map); memcpy(elt->key, key, map->key_size); entry->val = elt; The "memcpy(elt->key, key, map->key_size);" and "entry->val = elt;" stores may become visible in the reversed order on another CPU. This second CPU might then incorrectly determine that a new key doesn't match an already present val->key and subsequently insert a new element, resulting in a duplicate. Fix the problem by adding a write barrier between "memcpy(elt->key, key, map->key_size);" and "entry->val = elt;", and for good measure, also use WRITE_ONCE(entry->val, elt) for publishing the element. The sequence pairs with the mentioned "READ_ONCE(entry->val);" and the "val->key" check which has an address dependency. The barrier is placed on a path executed when adding an element for a new key. Subsequent updates targeting the same key remain unaffected. From the user's perspective, the issue was introduced by commit c193707 ("tracing: Remove code which merges duplicates"), which followed commit cbf4100 ("tracing: Add support to detect and avoid duplicates"). The previous code operated differently; it inherently expected potential races which result in duplicates but merged them later when they occurred. BTRFS: error (device vdc: state EA) in cleanup_transaction:2055: errno=-2 No such entry This happens because create_pending_snapshot() initializes the new root item as a copy of the source root item. This includes the refs field, which is 0 for a deleted subvolume. The call to btrfs_insert_root() therefore inserts a root with refs == 0. btrfs_get_new_fs_root() then finds the root and returns -ENOENT if refs == 0, which causes create_pending_snapshot() to abort. Fix it by checking the source root's refs before attempting the snapshot, but after locking subvol_sem to avoid racing with deletion. [ Upstream commit 2aa36604e8243698ff22bd5fef0dd0c6bb07ba92 ] It is generally unsafe to call put_device() with dpm_list_mtx held, because the given device's release routine may carry out an action depending on that lock which then may deadlock, so modify the system-wide suspend and resume of devices to always drop dpm_list_mtx before calling put_device() (and adjust white space somewhat while at it). For instance, this prevents the following splat from showing up in the kernel log after a system resume in certain configurations: [ 3290.969514] ====================================================== [ 3290.969517] WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected [ 3290.969519] 5.15.0+ #2420 Tainted: G S [ 3290.969523] ------------------------------------------------------ [ 3290.969525] systemd-sleep/4553 is trying to acquire lock: [ 3290.969529] ffff888117ab1138 ((wq_completion)hci0#2){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: flush_workqueue+0x87/0x4a0 [ 3290.969554] but task is already holding lock: [ 3290.969556] ffffffff8280fca8 (dpm_list_mtx){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: dpm_resume+0x12e/0x3e0 [ 3290.969571] which lock already depends on the new lock. … update [ Upstream commit 79b5b4b18bc85b19d3a518483f9abbbe6d7b3ba4 ] The rule activity update delayed work periodically traverses the list of configured rules and queries their activity from the device. As part of this task it accesses the entry pointed by 'ventry->entry', but this entry can be changed concurrently by the rehash delayed work, leading to a use-after-free [1]. Fix by closing the race and perform the activity query under the 'vregion->lock' mutex. …nix_gc(). [ Upstream commit 1971d13ffa84a551d29a81fdf5b5ec5be166ac83 ] syzbot reported a lockdep splat regarding unix_gc_lock and unix_state_lock(). One is called from recvmsg() for a connected socket, and another is called from GC for TCP_LISTEN socket. So, the splat is false-positive. Let's add a dedicated lock class for the latter to suppress the splat. Note that this change is not necessary for net-next.git as the issue is only applied to the old GC impl. Hi.
It seems that Nothing didn't release some of the kernel module's source code that would immediately block developing a custom kernel with modules built-in.
Specifically, Qualcomm (forked) kernel modules are missing:
All of those modules are licensed with GPL v2, and just like the main kernel source code, it is required for those to be published as well.
Please address this as soon as possible.
(To avoid future mistakes like this, please look for Kbuild files on the Android build source tree (
