Verifying proper setup

Once you have wired the controllers, installed the library, and changed the I2C speed, you should run the ControllerScanner
example to verify you have set everything up correctly. Results are written to the serial port and can be viewed using the Arduino IDE's Serial Monitor. A successful scan will look something like this:
