After checking lots of articles from media outlets, I realize lots of them have a share button, a way to share the page in question in different platforms/ emails.
Seems useful for ease the sharability of the website, and maybe for people who are not technologically savvy.

I personally dislike external share buttons on websites, because they clutter the website. The share action is already integrated quite nicely into modern browsers on mobile devices (this was different when these share buttons became popular). On desktop, most people just copy / paste the link.
When adding share buttons in the footer / header, they can be confused for follow buttons. IMO the follow action is more important, so we should avoid steering away from that.
