  • Annual thank you to peer reviewers? Idea from Anne Fernald, Modernism/Modernity

At @MModernity we are looking into starting a practice that I heard about on the @celj listserv of listing everyone who'd done peer review for us in a calendar year. An annual public thank you.

    • We'd have to get permission from reviewers, as this could break anonymity
  • Propose a peer reviewer award to CELJ? Maybe each member journal could nominate one outstanding peer reviewer & submit their reader's report(s) (with permission from both the reviewer & the author). CELJ said they might consider doing this in the future if individual journals pilot the practice.

Why?

  • It's getting harder and harder to find peer reviewers. People are busy and exhausted. Scholars don't get enough recognition for their review work, even though it's an essential part of the academic publishing process. These minor gestures might help in some small way.
