Installing version 6.0.0 on Windows7 64 bit fails

The program installs, but it can't launched because "api-ms-win-core-path-I1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer"
Reinstalling the program did not fix the problem.

Thanks for the report @marocco53 .

Googling some forums a possible explanation is that Win 7 is not supported from Python 3.9. It looks like the most recent version of Python that will work on Windows 7 is Python 3.8.15.

SasView 6.0.0 is built against Python 3.11.

As an aside, Microsoft ceased support for Win 7 in Jan 2020 and the last update was Feb 2023. You should consider updating your system.

I don't think we even support Win7 anymore

Moved from #3139:

Understood. Version 5 runs fine on Windows 7. Updating the system would mean changing the PC, given the requirements for newer Window version. I'll try and install version 6 on a Linux Ubuntu system.

Thanks!
